At the base of Beaver Creek Resort lies the town of Avon, now the major commercial center of the upper Eagle Valley. Restaurants, shops and offices are located throughout the town center. At the heart of town, Nottingham Park has evolved into a popular family recreation area. With spectacular views of Beaver Creek, the main attraction of the park is Nottingham Lake, which borders a neatly planned community of homes and condominiums along its northern and western shores, as well as a recreation center featuring state-of-the-art cardio equipment, pools and hot tub, childcare, aerobic classes and more.
Located eight miles west of Vail, Avon runs alongside the Eagle River and offers convenient access to Beaver Creek mountain for skiing and other on-mountain activities such as biking and hiking, as well as kayaking and fishing right out its door back door.
Avon is currently undergoing a major facelift with the new Confluence development, a $500 million project that includes a gondola connecting the town to the Beaver Creek ski area, a 5.5 acre riverside park, and a Westin Hotel that will be at the center of a new pedestrian village and main street with shops and restaurants.

High above the commercial center of Avon is Wildridge. A community of its own, Wildridge boasts striking, panoramic vistas stretching for miles up and down the Vail Valley and offers access to the surrounding White River National Forest. Strictly a residential area, Wildridge offers a wide variety of town homes, duplexes and single-family homes located along rolling hillsides, amongst the aspens. |
